The Beautiful City of Nottingham

Nottingham is perhaps most famously known for its affiliation with and appearance in the story of Robin Hood, the outlaw who robs the rich to give to the poor. Whether or not Robin Hood actually existed, Nottingham does exist and is a great place for visitors and tourists to England to come visit. There are a great many attractions, and Nottingham is an interesting and pleasant place to pass through or stay a while.

One of the biggest tourist attractions in Nottingham is Nottingham castle, which isn’t so much a castle as an estate. Nottingham Castle is a mansion that has an extensive history of the city and area, as well as an art gallery that was the country’s first and a statue of the famous Robin Hood. The castle is a great place to go and see because it has a very pleasant atmosphere and very scenic gardens.

Another interesting location to visit which is just outside of Nottingham is the Sherwood Forest Country Park, which is also famous from the legend of Robin Hood. The park stretches a long way and includes many pleasant walks and trails for those passing through to go on.

But Robin Hood themed attractions aren’t the only thing special about the city of Nottingham, as there are many other things which make it a place worth visiting. For one thing, there are two very large theatres in the city as well as a few smaller ones, including some cinemas. Visitors can go and watch some wonderful and creative plays that are often set in these theatres and see the art coming to life before their eyes. Nottingham also contains what is recognised as the world’s smallest cinema, containing only 21 seats in all.

Other things for visitors and travellers to do, include going ice skating, watching a whole variety of sports, and attempting or practicing clay shooting. Of the sports that are often plated in Nottingham some of the most popular include cricket, tennis, hockey, and football. The city also has some very interesting and pleasant universities in which visitors can go to stroll the beautiful grounds and even rent a boat to row the pleasant waters. There are music events, festivals, and many other regular events in the city that are held annually which you wouldn’t want to miss if you came by at the right time of year.
